WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The shield shows King Tutankhamun in a powerful and strong depiction as flaunting his sword whilst having in his hands two lions by the tail which is symbolic of opposing enemies. Behind Tutankhamun Nekhbet the vulture goddess is shown protecting Tutankhamun. There is also hieroglyphics engraved on to a section of the shield. The arched shape that makes the top section of the shield is represented by a winged solar disk showing the protection of Aten on Tutankhamun.

This particular shield is created through open work wood and engraved gilded wood.
WHAT WAS IT USED FOR?
The shield predominant use would have been used for military purposes as it was a shield. The shield would have acted as a type of protection that assisted Tutankhamun whilst he was in battle or a fight. The shield was used as military equipment, and there were 7 other shields that were used by Tutankhamun.
WHAT DOES IT REPRESENT?
The shields allows an insight into the military activity that occurred during the reign of Tutankhamun within Ancient Egypt. As Tutankhamun was depicted in battle, Ancient Egypt during would’ve been in conflict with another region, depicting the signs of war and battle that the Ancient Egyptians had to defend themselves. It also shows that they were well prepared and equipped as they had swords as depicted on the shield as well as a shield to assist with defending themselves in addition to having extensive knowledge on how to construct various equipment that were designed to be used in battle. The shield also represents art styles as Amarna art was used to depict Tutankhamun. This means that the influence on Tutankhamun’s father Akhenaten was still evident through the different art styles. As seen through the depiction of Tutankhamun on the shield as he is represented with a elongated stomach.
