WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This life-sized statue of Tutankhamun was made of wood, the statue is covered with black resin and the clothing made of gold. Tutankhamun in the statue is depicted wearing a short kilt, sandals, a large necklace and bracelets, and holding a mace and a long staff. The head is covered by the Nemes headdress and the forehead is protected by the uraeus, the cobra emblem of royalty. The eyebrows, rims of the eyes, and sandals are made of bronze.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
Placed in the north end of the Antechamber, this figure of Tutankhamun faced another similar statue, the two acting as guardians before the entrance to the Burial Chamber. The inscriptions on the projecting part of the kilt, however, may indicate another function, since it refers to the statue as the royal ka of the sun god. The inscription also calls the king "Osiris", an indication that he is dead and has joined Osiris. This latter association may be the reason for the color of the visible parts of the body. Osiris was frequently shown with black skin to symbolize fertility of land from which all vegetation and, therefore, all life derived. Sometimes illustrated with green skin, the color of vegetation, or perennial life, Osiris symbolized life eternal.

The Life size wooden statue represents the soul and embodied image of Tutankhamun before his death. The statue depicts a from of protection and symbolises fertility due to colour schemes.
